The Gables

One of the most picturesque villas in Ilfracombe, the building is designed to be viewed from any approach, unlike many Ilfracombe houses that present impressive frontages but plain backs.

There is an ecclesiastical feel to the building and it may have been designed for a clergyman. It was built in the 1860’s at the height of the Gothic revival. Built with exposed stone rubble walls the most striking feature of the building are the gables and their bargeboarding.
