Alpha House

 The architect W M Robbins built Alpha House in about 1880. Originally a private hotel it was a splendid building confronting every visitor coming into the town. The bold lettering '‘ALPHA HOUSE’ carries on a Victorian tradition that can be seen in old photographs of Ilfracombe’s boarding houses and hotels.
