Abbydale & Seven Hills
Drawing and text by kind permission of Jim Bates.

Abbydale and Seven Hills make up a semi-detached block, typical of the later development of the Torrs Park Estate being built in the mid to late 1870’s. Built of buff Maryland brick with freestone dressings the detail harks back to the Gothic world. The architect W.H. Gould has avoided the usual symmetry of semi-detached buildings to give them the look of a single villa. The entrances are at the side of the gables, so placed that it is hard to see where the division of the house occurs.
