Spirit of Derbyshire & Inshore Lifeboat Alec Dykes
Home

The first lifeboat station was established in 1828 in Hiern's Lane, now the site of The Builders Centre store-yard. It was moved to just below Lantern Hill in 1866 and again in 1996 to the spacious new building in the cove.

Ilfracombe Lifeboats

It houses both the 8 year old Spirit of Derbyshire and inshore lifeboat Alec Dykes, as well as their launch vehicles, a workshop, crew room and souvenir shop run by the Ilfracombe Lifeboat Guild. This boathouse is designed to meet requirements well into the 21st century.
